The Giles Street project involved an entire facelift of the front yard for a 1950’s house in coastal North Beach. The objective was to create a functional area to be enjoyed as a relaxing zone and maximize the ocean views on offer. Boundary walls create privacy and charm. Six alcoved gothic arches set into boundary walls nestle harmoniously, breaking up the large expanses of Herringbone’s unique style of “Bone Dry“ stonemasonry.
A curved "wave wall" has been cleverly crafted to maximize and collect beautiful ocean views and minimize visual pollution from power lines and other houses. In keeping with council requirements of transparency ratios on the verge side walls, six antique cast iron grills were acquired from the area and built into seven panels of significant substance to compliment the chunky iron work.
A sculptured mail box face sits silently in wait of the postman. Hand carved street numbers adorn the same pier. All corners are individually hand crafted from raw Wanneroo region capstone.
